When the U.S. fired on Iraq Wednesday, the networks had a choice to make: Switch to regular programming or continue war coverage. In the nation’s No. 2 market, Los Angeles, Fox and CBS put up their reality series, “American Idol” and “Survivor,” against NBC’s war reports.
For the folks in La-La Land, “reality” apparently has more bite than actual news.
From 8:30 to 9 p.m. PST, when the three programs went head-to-head, Fox’s “Idol” finished first, CBS’ “Survivor” came a close second, and NBC’s war coverage was a distant third.
