Vancouver goaltender Dan Cloutier does not plan to have surgery on his right knee and hopes to play Thursday against Phoenix.

Cloutier missed Sunday’s game against Washington and left the ice after practicing for about 15 minutes Tuesday. He said only rest will heal the injury.

“It’s not too bad during the games,” he said Tuesday before the Canucks played Dallas. “It’s mostly the day after the games it’s sore. We’re just taking a precautionary thing here. I’m not really worried about it.”

Cloutier has a strained medial collateral ligament.
