Lawmakers across the nation have come up with an unusual alternative to raising taxes for their cash-strapped states: “Tax Me More” funds that rely on donations from taxpayers. A Pennsylvania legislator’s proposal–like those in Kansas, Alaska and Oregon–would rely on taxpayers to donate to the state. An existing fund in Arkansas has taken in less than $3,000 since 2001.
