WHAT’S HAPPENING: Kids, families, Brownie and Cub Scout troops–anyone with an interest in volunteering–can sign up to clean their favorite park, beach, path, woods, ravine, or block in Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, and Knollwood as part of an annual Big Spring Clean-Up. WHERE: It starts and ends at Gorton Community Center, 400 E. Illinois Rd., Lake Forest. WHEN: The event kicks off at 9 a.m. Saturday. Following the cleanup, everyone is invited back to Gorton from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to deposit the trash, grab a bite to eat, and celebrate a job well done. BONUS: The Volunteer Center will supply the bags and gloves–and doughnuts. Last year, more than 30 sites were cleaned with the help of almost 200 volunteers. INFORMATION: Chris Martin at 847-735-1121.
