Ford Motor Co. will build the Mercury Mariner sport-utility vehicle at its plant in Avon Lake, Ohio. The plant had built the Mercury Villager and Nissan Quest minivans, which were discontinued after the 2002 model year. Avon Lake handles the overflow for the Ford Escape, which is primarily built in Kansas City, Mo., and provides the platform for the Mariner.
