Alex Gonzalez, who recently entered the record book with his third extra-inning home run, almost had a fourth in the 14th inning of Thursday’s game in Milwaukee, but was robbed with a leaping catch by Brewers left fielder Geoff Jenkins.
Gonzalez, who went deep in the 10th innings of games against San Francisco on May 1, Colorado on May 4 and St. Louis on May 10, joined Ron Gant (1995) as the only major-leaguers to homer in extra innings three times in one month. The most extra-inning homers in one season:
