Web surfers who hate those annoying pop-up ads just got a bit of bad news: Some of our goofy brethren are making cyberlife miserable for everyone.

Internet users are making pop-ups a big success, according to a study by Advertising.com, paving the way for companies to push every travel-discounting, spy-camera-installing, home-mortgage-lending Web ad in your face. The study found people are 13 times more likely to click through on a pop-up than the more conventional banner ad.
