It is my belief that the objection of some motorcyclists and motorcycle groups to wearing a helmet is based on a failure to understand correctly the function of a helmet. The function of a helmet is to protect your brains. If you have no brains, you don’t wear a helmet. I have been riding a motorcycle for 35 years now, and I have never ridden without a helmet.
