You won’t find a lot of gear one-upmanship at the Handlebar Bar & Grill (2311 W. North Ave., 773-384-9546). The conviviality inside the place is fueled by a passion for cycling. The eatery, which leans toward vegetarian fare, opened in February.
“[We] wanted a central place for cyclists to congregate and hang out,” said one of the owners, Jim Redd.
And they do. On a busy night, the entire patio area at the rear of the restaurant is jammed with bicycles of all sorts. Wednesday nights bring live music under the apt theme U-Lock Rock.
