That brightly painted 9-by-5-foot mural turning heads in Highland Park was designed to highlight some old favorites in the community.

The work depicts 11 scenes, ranging from a Frank Lloyd Wright home to the Metra train station.

It was a joint project by eight special education students at Highland Park High School and 10 seniors from the Alternative Adult Day Service.

The mural is displayed on the exterior wall of Stash’s Restaurant, 610 Central Ave.

In December, it moves to First Bank of Highland Park, and then to the high school or city library.
