In response to all of the letters you get from readers, irate that their children are exposed to an honest political viewpoint, I would like to register my support and enthusiasm for “The Boondocks.”
Aaron McGruder is a key voice of well-informed dissent.
His strip is challenging without being mean-spirited and carries with it a sharp humor that more often than not makes me laugh.
And to those on the right who are so uptight about the strip, I say this: What are you so worried about? You guys have all the power.
Let us have a little fun.
All the well-reasoned arguments against the war don’t add up to a hill of beans when compared to the powers of the executive, legislative and judicial branches of the federal government.
But before I go off, I’ll be good enough to admit that liberals are no better when it comes to power grabs and inconsequential political squabbles.
But I do agree that McGruder’s strip has no business being in the Comics section.
I mean, the bottom left corner of the front page sounds good to me.
That, or you could put it underneath John Kass’ column, by way of comparison.
