Star power is hard to quantify, but you know it when you see it.
If you have a brush with celebrity greatness, you tell your friends about it. You ask for an autograph or to have your picture taken with him/her/them. Maybe you stalk him/her/them. Maybe you need
professional help.
Anyway, the whole idea of star power got RedEye to wondering: Which Chicago celebrity would you be most excited to meet on an elevator or in a nightclub? We wanted to know which of the stars in Chicago’s galaxy shone the brightest in your eyes. The result is RedEye’s list of the 50 Chicagoans who impress us most.
This isn’t a scientific survey, but it’s weighted by more than 3,500 responses to a poll we conducted on metromix.com. (Those voters overwhelmingly picked John Cusack, by the way.) When ties needed to be broken, we broke them the old-fashioned way. We argued about it and compromised. Some of us sulked. Now we’re done arguing and sulking. It’s your turn.
