In April, Chrysler brought out the 2004 Pacifica, a sedan/wagon/sport-utility crossover that came fully loaded with stickers that topped $38,000. As a result of the pricing, consumers didn’t storm showrooms looking for it.
Chrysler began offering a $1,000 lease discount on the new vehicle to those who owned any Chrysler vehicle and a $1,000 rebate to those who didn’t. In the first two months on the market, sales totaled 5,000 units. The original forecast for first-year sales was 100,000 units.
Pacifica is offered in all-wheel and front-wheel drive, but the more costly AWD version that starts at $32,980 was the one that first appeared in showrooms. The FWD version starts at $31,230.
In late August, Chrysler will add an even lower-priced Pacifica. It will be a FWD version lacking some equipment that’s now standard, to bringing down the price to an estimated $29,500.
To ensure folks don’t wait until August to check out Pacifica, the $1,000 incentives have been extended through July.
