The Devils scheduled a news conference for Friday at which Ken Daneyko is expected to announce his retirement. Daneyko, a 39-year-old defenseman, has played his entire 19-year career with the Devils.
– The New York Islanders re-signed veteran defenseman Kenny Jonsson to a two-year contract. Terms were not released. Jonsson, a restricted free agent, had eight goals and 18 assists in 71 games last season, his eighth with the Islanders.
– The American Hockey League has changed to a two-conference, four-division format that places the Wolves in the seven-team West Division of the Western Conference. There were three divisions in the Western and Eastern Conferences last season.
