The Florida Marlins entered Major League Baseball in 1993, about the same time Andy MacPhail took over the Cubs. The Marlins won the World Series in 1997, dismantled the team in 1998 and began rebuilding. At the All-Star break in 2003, the Marlins had a better record than the Cubs.

There is no doubt in my mind that the Marlins will be in their second World Series before I see the Cubs in one. And Andy MacPhail still has a job.
