The government is investigating the front suspension ball joint on 1998-2003 Dodge Durango sport-utility vehicles after receiving 81 complaints of premature wear, including four incidents of failure. In two of those cases, the front wheels separated from the truck; in the other two, the front suspension collapsed. No injuries were reported. The investigation, which affects about 450,000 vehicles, is the first step toward a possible recall.
