People all around me seem to use “I” in sentences where “me” is the correct usage. When speakers say, “John visited my husband and I,” or “Mary brought a present to Paul and I,” they must think they sound well-educated. They do not.
Would they say, “He visited I” or, “Mary brought a present to I”? No they would not.
Perhaps the next time this usage occurs in conversation, I will say, “Come over here and sit next to I, and let’s discuss English grammar.”
