Some movies are immune to bad press. Just ask George Lucas.
But the flood of bad buzz surrounding Hollywood super couple Ben Affleck’s and Jennifer Lopez’s “Gigli” took a costly toll. The much-badly-talked-about movie earned just $3.8 million over the weekend, well behind box-office winner “American Wedding,” which earned $34.2 million.
“Gigli” cost $54 million to make, so its failure means Affleck and Lopez probably won’t work together again. (They already have filmed “Jersey Girl.”)
“I’ve seen a lot worse movies,” Tom Sherak, partner in Revolution Studios, told cnn.com. Revolution produced “Gigli” for Sony Pictures. “Hey, is it the best movie ever made? Ehh, I don’t think so.”
Well said, Tom, well said.
