Jeffrey C. Stone, 38, of Geneva, an engineer for SBC, died of heart failure Monday, Aug. 4, in his home. Born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mr. Stone received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington in 1987. There he met Kimberly Larson, who also was a student, and married her in 1990. “We were married for exactly 13 years,” his wife said. Mr. Stone completed his studies at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, where he received a master’s degree in behavioral medicine. “He always had an interest in medicine, but while in school he became very familiar with computers, which eventually led to his becoming a software engineer,” his wife said. Since 1999, Mr. Stone worked as a software engineer for SBC in the company’s corporate headquarters in Hoffman Estates. Mr. Stone was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Batavia. Other survivors include a daughter, Anna Ling; his parents, Robert and Marjorie; a brother, Wilford; and a sister, Diane Origer. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 950 Hart Rd., Batavia.
