– Chrysler is unveiling the third in its series of specialized PT Cruisers. The PT Dream Cruiser Series 3 will go into production this month. It features a two-tone blue and silver paint job, blue-tinted glass and a 220-horespower turbocharged engine. The Series 3 will sell for $28,810. The automaker plans to make fewer than 2,000 of the Series 3, which is expected to be at dealerships in mid-September.
– Toyota has priced its 2004 Avalon and Camry sedans. The sporty Camry SE will start at $23,315. The 4-cylinder Camry LE will start at $19,045 with manual transmission and the XLE starts at $22,295 with automatic. The V-6 Camry LE starts at 22,260 and XLE at $25,406. Avalon XL starts at $26,045 with bucket seats and $26,865 with a bench. The uplevel XLS starts at $30,505 with buckets and $30,405 with a bench.
– The buyer profile for the 2003 Chevrolet SSR roadster truck: “Image-conscious people who are passionate about cars who own hand-held computers and cellphones,” says Bob Walczyk, SSR marketing manager. Oh, and the majority (60 percent) will be males, age 35 to 50, making $130,000 a year.
