The Working Bikes Cooperative, which rehabs discarded bicycles to raise funds to buy bikes and parts for use in developing countries, seeks entrants for its Iron Mechanic Contest Saturday at Amor de Dios Church and Community Garden, 2348 S. Sawyer Ave., Chicago. Contestants will build bikes from scratch, do a complete safety check and race the bikes around the block. Entry fee is a donation to the Grassroots Media Festival, which will show community videos on grassroots movements. Funds raised will go toward Working Bikes Ghana.
