Here’s how the summer is going for Hollywood: Horror sequel “Jeepers Creepers 2” topped Labor Day with a weekend box office of $18.5 million–over four days. “Freaky Friday” was second with $11.7 million.
Movie grosses from May to Labor Day are up 2 percent from 2002, MSNBC reports, but ticket prices have risen 4 percent. That means ticket sales will be down. But it’s not all gloom and doom. A record five summer movies have crossed the $200 million mark:
1. “Finding Nemo,” $330 million
2. “The Matrix Reloaded,” $279 million
3. “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl,” $261 million (and sneaking up on “Matrix”)
4. “Bruce Almighty,” $240 million
5. “X2: X-Men United,” $215 million
