A disruptive protest on Thursday earned 37 students at the McHenry High School West Campus five- to 10-day suspensions and police citations for disorderly conduct, officials said Friday.

The protest was over a policy requiring juniors and seniors to remain inside during lunch and study periods, officials said. Principal Barbara Jahnke said the disruptions, not the protest, led to the suspensions.
