1. Who said what?
Coach Dick Jauron said the Bears were better in Week 2, “but you’re looking for wins in our business.” Yes, and fans are looking for “when’s?”
2. Pound for pound
The Bears’ D has given up an average of about 400 yards in the first two weeks of the season. That’s a little over Ted Washington’s weight in yards. Just something to think about.
3. Socc-it to them
The WUSA shut down because it doesn’t have enough money to run a fourth season. Too bad those soccer players can’t play basketball, too, because the WNBA will be around forever.
4. Muff by the mouth
Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey flubbed a soft touchdown toss that hit him square in the fingers. Maybe his hands were flapping like his like gums do.
5. Coach speak
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution ran a quarter-page ad congratulating Falcons coach Dan Reeves on his 200th victory. He lost. Don’t know what happened since they were getting such good intel from Mike Shananan.

The Cubs pulled to within 1 1/2 games of Houston by beating the Mets–the only team in baseball more Cub-like than the Cubs.
