A reader looks back on a moment with the Cubs (who play their last regular-season game today):

I once escorted a large group of Cubs fans to see a series against the St. Louis Cardinals in Busch Stadium. The Cubs posted nothing but zeros on the scoreboard for the first six innings. After that they began hitting and scoring several runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings–and went on to win the ballgame.

I asked one of the fans to take a photo of the scoreboard, and she agreed. On the bus going back to the hotel, I asked her whether she took the picture. She replied, “No, I ran out of film. But don’t worry–I’ll take it tomorrow.”
