On their way home, the sell-out crowd that saw the Cubs drop their final game of the season 3-2 to the Pirates was busy collecting mementos of the moment–souvenir foam claws, Cubs knit hats and especially the newly minted 2003 Central Division Champions T-shirts.
Vendor Robert Mauremi, 26, showed up near the Harry Caray statue at Sheffield Avenue and Addison Street with a giant duffel bag stuffed full of licensed T-shirts. He sold 80 in less than an hour, at $25 each.
“Everybody saw them on TV last night,” Mauremi said. “They’re just flying.”
