Jon Auer/Ken Stringfellow
Private Sides
Although the demand for the Posies has decreased, Auer and Stringfellow are always worth a listen. “Private Sides” collects six songs, three performed by each singer. Auer’s opening trio includes the pretty “When The Lights Go Up” and the power-pop gem “Beautiful” that never quite bursts into the full-blown rock anthem it aims to be. Stringfellow’s “side” includes a Bridget St. John cover and “Prequel,” a fine, fuzzy 1997 leftover. But “Private Sides” is ultimately a tease, both for longer works from both talented songwriters and for the chance of a full-blown Posies reunion.
