That performance ended a streak of eight games in which he had thrown for 200 or more yards. … After being sacked three times in the first three games, Beutjer has been nailed nine times in the last three. The worst may be to come: Saturday’s opponent, Michigan State, sacked Indiana’s Matt LoVecchio six times in the Spartans’ 31-3 rout … The Purdue loss was the most lopsided for the Illini since a 61-23 defeat to Northwestern in the final game of 2000 … Matt Minnes, who hadn’t played since doing all the punting in the opener against Missouri, alternated with Steve Weatherford on Saturday. Minnes averaged 42.3 yards; Weatherford averaged 39.8.
