Despite a weeklong garbage strike that has affected much of the Chicago area, Geneva’s Public Works Department, BFI management personnel and even Mayor Kevin Burns have pitched in to remove refuse on schedule.

“We pitched in as a stopgap response and we’ll do it again when necessary,” Public Works Director Tom Talsma said.

Residents should put garbage out on scheduled days, officials said.
