Kevin Miller’s shot sailed past Wolves goaltender Frederic Cassivi at 1 minute 2 seconds of overtime, giving the Grand Rapids Griffins a 3-2 victory Saturday night at Allstate Arena in the opening game for each team.
Trailing 2-0 midway through the third period, Steve Maltais scored for the Wolves. Then a newcomer, left wing Eric Healey, tied the game at 17:21.
“I thought we had a good physical game, but we just didn’t jell until late in the game,” Wolves coach John Anderson said.
