The guy who hindered Moises Alou’s attempt to catch a Luis Castillo foul in the eighth inning–a play that led to a walk and sparked the staggering eight-run Marlins rally when the Cubs were five outs from winning the pennant–makes you believe Cubs fans don’t deserve a World Series.
That said: Mark Prior was still allowed to get people out, same as Kyle Farnsworth and Mike Remlinger.
What’s more: Alex Gonzalez was still allowed to field the ball, too, and if he does, the game would’ve been just tied, not turned into Enron.
Just asking: Mike Mordecai?
Uh-oh: The Marlins just beat the Cubs’ best pitcher. Now they get the Cubs’ second-best pitcher, and they knocked him out of the game the last time. Paxil, please.
What’s that? Dusty Baker said every time the Cubs lose a game, “someone conjures up something in history that’s negative that happened before.” Like Tuesday night, you mean?
Remember: The Cubs had a four-run lead in Game 1 of this series and lost. Only four of 22 teams had blown such a lead and come back to win a series. And if the Cubs blow this series, you could argue that it will be in large part because Baker was more afraid of Lenny Harris than Mike Lowell.
Kid stuff: Miguel Cabrera got married at 20 and had a child at 21, so what’s playing third base, shortstop and right field and batting cleanup in the eighth inning of a win-or-die NLCS game against Mark Prior?
Crowd control: Which place where you can’t see the game draws more fans, Waveland Avenue or Comiskey’s upper deck?
Then again: At least the fans on Waveland didn’t help along the Marlins’ game-winning rally.
Goat references: That’s always the answer for some people. Mommy, make it stop.
