Thank you for “There’s a reason they’re `wild'” (Editorial, Oct. 15). You correctly name the motive for exotic pets as just another form of obnoxious status-seeking. Wild animals belong in the wild, protected from all the so-called civilized people who would take them prisoner or kill them for whatever reason–food, sport, entertainment, ornament or aphrodisiac.

And while we’re at it, there are some mighty unhappy-looking cats in Lincoln Park prison–er, Zoo–that should be returned to the freedom that is their birthright.
