Sasha Cohen skated a fast-paced short program that easily outdistanced a so-so field at Skate America in Reading, Pa. Cohen wasn’t great, but her combination of speed and precision was enough to build a large lead.
Cohen had a 7.44-point lead over Japan’s Shizuka Arakawa heading into Saturday night’s free skate at the first Grand Prix event of the season.
