It was an exciting Cubs season. Dusty Baker took a team which many picked to finish third or fourth in the National League Central Division to the playoffs. There they beat a team that some people regarded as the best in the National League. Then in the NLCS they took the Marlins to the seventh game where, unfortunately, they lost to a better team. And yet people talk about “choking” and “curses.”
This was the most wonderful Cubs season since 1989 (I’m not including 1998 when the Cubs backed into a wild-card spot despite the efforts of Ed Lynch and Andy MacPhail). If Jim Hendry works his magic in the off-season, this team will go even further in 2004.
