I did not know John Slater III, one of the victims of the high-rise fire in the Cook County-owned building in the Loop, but there was a bond of sorts. Like he and more than 32,000 others, I, too, ran the Chicago Marathon on Oct. 12.
A few days later, he tragically lost his life.
I feel like I have lost a teammate. I suspect many others in the running community feel the same.
