Now that people who are against abortion have made an issue of what they should be called, perhaps a more accurate identification of their cause should be “pro-birth,” or “right-to-birth.”
I wonder how many of these “pro-lifers” are also against the death penalty. I don’t remember them making life at all stages an issue in President Bush’s record when he was governor of Texas, where countless executions have been allowed. I wonder how many “pro-lifers” demonstrated against our pre-emptive war in Iraq, where hundreds of U. S. soldiers and thousands of Iraqis have been killed.
One who truly believes in life at all stages realizes our responsibility to protect it does not end when the fetus leaves the birth canal.
