– Base prices on the 2004 BMW X3 sport-utility vehicle are $30,300 with a 2.5-liter 6-cylinder engine and $36,300 with a 3-liter 6-cylinder. Deliveries to customers will begin in February, but dealers will have models available for test drives late this month. The prices for both models are with the standard all-wheel-drive and 6-speed manual transmission and do not include the $695 destination charge. A 5-speed automatic transmission is a $1,275 option.

– Fiat says the Panda, one of the new models it hopes will pull it out of the doldrums, was named Car of the Year 2004 by 58 European auto journalists. Fiat hopes the flat-backed Panda, launched in September with the Fiat Idea and Lancia Ypsilon, will help recover market share and reverse a sales slump.
