At least one half of the Alomar act will be back with the White Sox next season. Sandy Alomar Jr. signed a one-year, $750,000 contract Wednesday. The 37-year-old catcher batted .268 with five home runs and 26 RBIs in 75 games with the Sox in 2003. He also compiled a career-high fielding percentage of .997. Sox general manager Ken Williams is said to remain interested in re-signing second baseman Roberto Alomar, who was acquired from the New York Mets in July. He hit .267 in 67 games with the Sox.
