This is in answer to the Nov. 20 letter to the editor by Vito Demonte, declaring that for him and 10 of his co-workers, Jessica Lynch is no hero.
I suggest that these 11 critics immediately enlist in the Army and volunteer to go to Iraq. Then they could more fairly judge what constitutes a hero. I was not in favor of the Iraq war before it started, and I am not now, but for me, the brave young American soldiers who are there have put themselves in mortal danger in order to serve their country, and–whether they are still living, dead or wounded like Lynch–they are all heroes.
