Bulls general manager John Paxson isn’t sure whether his three new acquisitions, who won’t take their physicals until Monday morning, will play at night against Milwaukee.
Tyson Chandler skipped practice Sunday–again–with a sore back, and it’s looking more likely that the Bulls will shut him down for an extended period.
If Antonio Davis, Jerome Williams and Chris Jefferies don’t play, the Bulls will have to activate Linton Johnson, an undrafted rookie free agent, to dress nine players.
Welcome to your Bulls coaching debut, Scott Skiles.
“I expect us to win,” Skiles said.
Such a no-nonsense attitude is exactly why Davis is eager to begin playing for the Bulls, according to his agent.
“He’s excited,” said Bill Duffy, who also represents Jay Williams. “We talked in depth about the organization of the franchise in a conference call with Pax.
“He told Antonio that he expects him to provide leadership and confident play for the front line.
“There’s no reason this team can’t make a run in the Eastern Conference.”
Neither Paxson nor Skiles are promising miracles right away. But once everybody reports and everybody gets healthy, they see good things.
“I think you can make an argument that we may be the biggest team in the East once Tyson comes back, and certainly one of the most athletic,” Skiles said.
“We should be a great rebounding team and get really physical.”
