With the holidays at hand, I am heartsick at the loss of American lives in our two recent oil-related wars. One way or another America’s Middle East involvement is directly tied to gasoline–and our people are dying for it.
How much more American blood is required?
If every American vehicle achieved 55 miles per gallon, this country would not import a drop of oil.
This ex-Marine is too old to assist on the battleground. But age has not diminished my sense of duty. I am going to purchase a hybrid car (the ones that get 60 miles per gallon). And I am ashamed that my country’s auto industry has failed to produce one, such that I must purchase an import. I urge every auto purchaser to at least examine a hybrid. Every saved gallon of gas is one less reason for war. Maybe if enough of us purchase them . . .
