This is regarding Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s letter to the editor, “Importing drugs” (Voice of the people, Nov. 23).

Perhaps someone on his staff needs to inform Blagojevich that several companies that make up the “most profitable industry in the world,” the drug industry, which he now vilifies and seeks to harm, are headquartered or have large presences in the Chicago area and Illinois.

Blagojevich’s argument will surely embolden other states to pursue the same policies.

Since Illinois has such a heavy dependence upon these companies for employment, investment, taxes and shareholder wealth, it may well be that the governor’s rash scheme will backfire and end up costing the state money .

At least, however, we have the comfort of knowing he’s helping citizens of other states.
