James H. Beckwith, 67, passed away on November 26, 2003, born in Queens, NY, he graduated from the Philadelphia College of Art. Mr. Beckwith was an Art Director with Leo Burnett, Inc. from 1973-1991 where he was assigned to accounts such as Heinz, Kellogg’s, Nestles, Oldsmobile and United Air Lines among others. Mr. Beckwith will best be remembered for his award winning work on the United Air Lines account. During his career, he won several Cleo’s and Addy’s, the New York Art Director Award and placed in the Chicago Film Festival on several occasions. Prior to Leo Burnett, he worked for Foote, Cone and Belding; Stern, Walters and Simmons; Needham, Harper and Steers, as well as N.W. Ayer & Son. Mr. Beckwith was an avid reader and an accomplished artist. He is survived by his son Peter; his brother, Chris and sister, Ellen. No memorial services have been scheduled.
