Lester Johnson, born of Swedish immigrant parents, resident of Chicago, until October, 1993. Graduate of Armour Institute, B.S. (Illinois Institute of Technology), Yale University MFA, Lieutenant Commander during World War II, member of American Institute of Architects for fifty years (1937-1992), licensed architect in 23 states, Director or Trustee on the boards of several secular corporations or charitable institutions. One of the founders of Telephone and Data Systems. He was also inducted into the city of Chicago Senior Hall of Fame in 1992. He was a member of Madison Golden K Kiwanis. He and his wife, Frances, were philanthropists and benefactors of medical research and charitable organizations. Lester is survived by his loving wife Frances; he was the beloved father of the late Melanie (Michael) Heald, Graham (Sharon) Johnson, Kent and Laurel Johnson; beloved grandfather of Anne and Megan Heald, Erik, Kyle and Courtney Johnson. Services will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2003, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5701 Raymond Rd., Madison, WI. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.
