Philadelphia Flyers forward Claude Lapointe has entered the NHL’s substance-abuse treatment program, the league said Thursday.
The Flyers did not elaborate on Lapointe’s condition nor say when he is scheduled to return.
“He’s been having some problems, so he voluntarily decided to take care of them,” Flyers general manager Bob Clarke said.
Lundmark injured
New York Rangers center Jamie Lundmark was helped from the ice in the second period Thursday night after a knee-on-knee collision with Michael Peca that got the New York Islanders captain ejected from the game.
Lundmark has a second-degree sprain of his right knee and will be re-evaluated on Friday.
Palffy returns
Los Angeles leading scorer Ziggy Palffy, who has six goals and 20 assists, was activated before the Kings’ game against Dallas.
Palffy missed five games after a puck hit him in the face Nov. 22.
