I am a University of Illinois at Chicago graduate student, and I am lucky enough to pick up a complimentary issue of Red Eye every day. I just wanted to take a minute and commend your coverage of the sexual assault issue that is plaguing our city. (“The Rape Report,” Dec. 4)
From the feature articles, to the updates, to the pictorials of the neighborhoods that are primarily affected, you have truly done your part to not let this issue fall to the wayside and out of the minds of your readers. Too often people become complacent when they no longer feel there is an immediate threat present, but with your contributions, RedEye has helped keep the city’s awareness level relatively high.
Thank you on behalf of the victims seeking justice and those of us who are working toward eliminating the threat.
