On third-and-8 at the Packers’ 16, Kordell Stewart throws a soft out pass the way he has thrown all year, even when he was good, and Mike McKenzie picks it off and goes 90 yards for a TD. Call it the Bears’ version of the Lambeau Bleep.
But wait: It gets worse (because it always does for these delusionally playoff-bound Bears). After McKenzie’s TD gave Green Bay a 25-14 lead, the Packers went for two, and the Bears had to burn a timeout because they didn’t have enough players on the field. Tough job, counting to 11. But they’ll get another chance to do it when they lose their next three games.
Perfect: On one third-down play in the first quarter, Stewart threw into double coverage, threw low and threw short of the first-down marker. So there you go. A complete grasp of everything John Shoop’s offense stands for.
