A great running game by itself is not enough to win a team an NFL championship. But the inability to stop the run will cause huge problems for a team that has designs on going deep in the playoffs.
The Kansas City Chiefs get exposed a little bit more each week when their defense takes the field. While Clinton Portis burned the Chiefs for 218 yards and five TDs on Sunday, he’s not alone. The Chiefs rank 27th in rushing yards allowed.
How bad are they? The Chiefs had 444 yards of total offense and didn’t turn the ball over. Yet Denver still racked up 508 yards and scored six touchdowns.
SILVER BULLETS
– Less than two weeks ago, the Tennessee Titans were looked at as a likely AFC Super Bowl team. After losses to the Jets and Colts, Jeff Fisher knows his offense is limited because Steve McNair is not healthy.
– Even with three weeks left, Oakland players are packed and ready to start their vacations. With Rick Mirer starting at QB, it’s hard to blame them.
