Capt. Raymond D. McCann, 78, filled many command posts at The Chicago Police Dept during his 33 years servicing the people of Chicago. He ended his career as Watch Commander of Chicago’s Third District. Following his retirement in 1985, he then served as Deputy Chief Investigator for The Cook County States Attorney’s Office until his retirement in 1998. He attended St. Rita High School in Chicago where he lettered in a number of sports on his 18th birthday, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served as a Flight Engineer on a B24 bomber during WWII, he received an undergraduate degree from Loyola University, Chicago and a master’s of Public Administration from Illinois Institute Of Technology. He is survived by his wife Patricia; two sons Matt (Kim) and Terry and a daughter Teresa (Martin) Clohessy; grandfather of Joey, Ciara and Shane; brother of Edward and Rosemary. A memorial mass will be held on Friday December 12 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel Church, 8404 Cass Avenue, Darien, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family request a donation to St. Rita Cascia High School, 7740 South Western Avenue, Chicago, IL 60620.
