Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

A woman trampled to unconsciousness by overzealous bargain-shoppers?

Disgusting, yes, but not surprising (“Shopper trampled as Wal-Mart hits sales record,” News, Nov. 30).

When we’re kids, we’re taught that the key to happiness is that shiny new toy in the window.

After Sept. 11, 2001, we were taught that buying a new car or house was considered an act of patriotism.

The unfortunate Wal-Mart shopper was just doing what she has always been taught: Shop ’til you drop.

All for a lousy $29 DVD player.
